Anti Etch™
Some stunning stone types can be used in your kitchen, bathroom and dining room to create a luxurious finish. Marble, limestone, onyx and travertine have been used in interior designs for countless years to provide stunning visual effects, and ageless beauty. However, some people are put off because of the negative aspects of these beautiful natural products. When acidic products come into contact with these stone types, the acid begins to eat away at the surface. This creates dull spots in the stone, which is known as ‘etching’. An etch mark is not a stain, and cannot be simply cleaned off.
Everyday items in your kitchen, such as citrus fruits, vinegar, ketchups, coffee, wine, champagne and certain cleaners are acidic to some degree. If they are spilled on your marble surfaces and left unattended, or go unnoticed, the acid will eat into the surface of the stone and cause etching.
It is impossible to prevent etching using traditional sealers, no matter how many coats you apply.
This is a beautiful marble table before we treated it. It was covered in scratches and etch marks from lemon juice, wine glasses and everyday use.
This is the table after the AntiEtch™ treatment. Scratch and water marks are gone, the marble has been deep cleaned, professionally coated in AntiEtch™, and polished to a gloss finish, offering 10 years of protection.
Traditional stone repairs can be carried out by a professional stone restorer or polisher, and those etch marks can be polished out and the surface re-sealed. So what happens when you spill something else? You have to repeat the process or suffer your beautiful, expensive piece of stone being less beautiful than it could be.
This is where AntiEtch™ comes to the fore. Once applied by a professional (and authorised) expert, this innovative solution will form a durable, ultra low visible, super thin coating that will prevent all acidic products coming into contact with your stone surfaces. Nothing acidic contained in food or drinks can penetrate this coating, so you can stop worrying if one of the children spills their juice or gets ketchup on the countertop. No more fretting at parties worrying if someone is going to spill red wine or champagne. Instead of having to cover up that wonderful piece of stone, you can show it off without worrying about stains or etch marks appearing.
You don’t need to have new stone installed to benefit from AntiEtch™. We can apply it to your existing kitchen countertops, bath surrounds, vanity units, and tables.
And the best bit? When the work is carried out by an authorised professional, you get a 10 year warranty.
